Audition Day

4 min

You're reviewing three therapy-session transcripts from the same patient, recorded across consecutive weeks. Somewhere in these sessions a plain factual detail contradicts something stated earlier. Your job is to find (a) which session contains the contradicting statement, and (b) what that contradiction reveals, by choosing from the options below. This is a puzzle told with care: the patient is entirely invented, and the mismatch you're looking for is a concrete factual detail, not a reading of mood or tone.

The scene

A man in his early fifties preparing for a choir audition at his local community centre, using the rehearsals to rebuild confidence after a redundancy.
