Between 1 and 22 August 2026, the Goldenvale Apiary Cooperative sold 340 jars bearing the label 'Goldenvale Single-Origin Somerset Honey — Extracted August 2026.' Trading standards officers found that a significant portion of those jars contained blended imported honey rather than local nectar. Owen Prichard, as the sole licensed packer for that production run, is charged with mislabelling the product for financial gain. Prichard insists the cooperative's own extraction yield was sufficient to fill every jar and that no imported product entered his packing line. The jury must decide whether the evidence places imported honey in Prichard's packing operation.
