Bitter Notes at Sugarholm
≈ 6 min
On the evening of 3 August 2026, Sugarholm's head chocolatier Petra Voss discovered that her locked recipe binder — containing the classified Maracaibo-Tumaco blend ratios and a hand-annotated conching schedule — had been photographed and the images sent from inside the studio to an account registered to Brandt & Lyle Confections. The prosecution contends that Remy Okafor, who held a temporary key to the recipe vault, accessed the binder after hours and used his personal phone to transmit the images. Okafor insists he left the studio at closing time and never re-entered. The jury must decide whether the evidence establishes, beyond reasonable doubt, that Okafor was inside the vault after hours and transmitted the formula.
