On the morning of 29 July 2026, Maisie Dunford lodged a formal complaint with fair director Harold Ketch, alleging that Connie Prater had stolen her handwritten blackberry-sage pie recipe from the competitors' prep kitchen the previous evening and entered it under her own name. Maisie's recipe card was found missing from her prep station, and Connie's submitted pie bears an unusual combination of spices — blackberry with fresh sage and a teaspoon of white pepper — that Maisie says she devised herself and shared with no one.
