On the morning of 28 July 2026, Stella Vane arrived at Berth 2 to find all six of her crab-pot lines severed cleanly at the cleats, her pots lost to the tide. The co-op manager reported that Tench had publicly argued with Vane two days earlier over allocation of the prime north-channel grounds, and that a filleting knife bearing Tench's initials was found on the dock near Berth 2. Tench claims he was ashore in the tackle shed all evening checking his own gear and never approached Vane's berth. The question before you is whether Tench cut Vane's lines on the night in question.
