On the morning of 19 July 2026, Trading Standards officer Faye Hollis purchased three jars of honey from Owen Bartley's stall at the Taunton Farmers' Market. Laboratory analysis of a sample returned a pollen profile inconsistent with Somerset wildflowers, and the cooperative's own batch records were cited as showing a shortfall in Bartley's licensed production. Bartley insists the honey is genuine Fernwood produce and that the laboratory result can be explained by a poor wildflower season this year.
