On the morning of 26 July 2026, duty manager Sylvia Pond discovered that pigeonhole 14 in the Castellan's lost-and-found vault was empty: a diamond bracelet, handed in the previous afternoon and logged as item LF-114, was gone. The vault is accessed by a single master key held overnight by the on-duty senior porter — on that shift, Owen Draper. CCTV on the staff corridor malfunctioned between 02:10 and 04:30, leaving a gap in the footage. Draper insists he never opened the vault and that the key never left his belt. The jury must decide whether Draper took the bracelet, and identify which witness's account, taken with the evidence, settles the matter.
