Between Monday 20 July and Wednesday 22 July 2026, six multi-day lift passes went missing from the overnight cubbyhole rack inside Pinecrest Ridge's base lodge. Each pass had been purchased and registered to a named guest; each guest arrived the next morning to find their cubbyhole empty. Resort management reviewed access logs and noted that Curtis Bale, the sole kiosk attendant on those three evening shifts, held the only staff key to the cubbyhole room. The prosecution contends that Bale removed the passes after the lodge closed each night and sold them informally at the gondola loading bay the following morning. The jury must decide whether the evidence proves Bale guilty of theft, and which witness account, weighed against the exhibits, settles the question.
