Wrecked Rows at Ashby Fair
≈ 4 min
Each August, the Ashby Magna Cheese Fair draws producers, traders, and visitors to the showground for a long weekend of competitions and tastings. In the far paddock, behind the main marquee, the Midlands Apicultural Research Group maintains a small field apiary — six observation hives set on wooden stands — used year-round for a pollinator-health monitoring programme. On the morning of Saturday 22 August 2026, a fair volunteer discovered that three of the six hives had been toppled from their stands and that one comb frame had been snapped. Your task is to profile the person or persons responsible for the damage. You will not be asked to name anyone — only to describe how the offender behaved.
