Tangled Lines at the Guildhall Green

4 min

Each September, Calderton's Guildhall Green is transformed for the three-day Cheese Fair: stalls, competitions, and a Saturday-evening performance by the Calderton Amateurs dramatic society using a temporary open-air stage erected at the north end of the Green. On the afternoon before opening night, the society's stage crew found that the rigging supporting the backdrop curtain rail had been tampered with — two load-bearing ropes partially cut and the pulley block at the centre mast re-threaded incorrectly. The performance was postponed while the fair's duty marshal secured the area. Your task is to profile the offender's behaviour, not to name them.
