Coins Gone at the Castling Room
≈ 4 min
Between the end of the 10:30 blitz session and the start of the 14:00 rated afternoon round on Sunday 31 August 2026, the sealed charity collection tin on the reception counter at the Aldermoor Chess Society was found to have been emptied. The tin had been collecting donations for the Aldermoor Children's Literacy Fund throughout the month. Club director Evelyn Marsh has asked for a behavioural profile of whoever removed the contents — not a name, but an account of how they operated, whether they worked alone, how they relate to this club, and whether this particular tin was selected for a reason.
The scene
Aldermoor Chess Society, a private members' club occupying two floors of a converted Georgian townhouse on Ferrier Street
