Dead Queens at the Aldgate Salon

Three days before the Aldgate Salon's centenary charity evening — at which the club's acclaimed rose bed, planted in the rear courtyard and tended by members for twelve years, was to be displayed before a horticultural judge — the bed was found ruined at first light. Every plant had been treated with an agent that caused rapid, complete wilting. The club steward has asked investigators to establish the behavioural profile of whoever carried out the act, based on the scene, the evidence recovered, and statements from those connected to the club and the courtyard.
