When technician Ora Finch arrived at Pendleton & Sons on Wednesday morning, she found the workshop in disarray: the master regulator clock had stopped, the ultrasonic cleaning tank had overflowed, and the fuse board in the back room showed a tripped isolator. Workshop owner Gerald Pendleton claims he left the premises in good order the previous evening, but the evidence tells a different story. Finch must reconstruct the exact sequence of the power failure and the events surrounding it — what failed first, what was manually switched, and when — to determine whether the cascade was accidental or arranged.
