Latchford Municipal Swimming Baths reopened after a two-week renovation, but head engineer Sylvia Okafor noticed that the pump room's master flow-control valve — a bespoke brass assembly stamped LMB-V3 — had been swapped for an inferior cast-iron imitation during the closure. The imitation valve was found still in place on the morning the baths reopened, while the genuine LMB-V3 has not been recovered. Inspector Callow has been called to establish the exact sequence of events during the renovation window, since at least two individuals had access to the pump room on separate days and both deny moving the valve. The inspector must arrange six recorded events into their true chronological order.
