Tram No. 7 has been badly damaged after dropping its front axle assembly into inspection pit 2 at Colverham Depot, injuring the driver and putting the line out of service for a week. Management insists the accident was caused by a worker negligently leaving the pit cover boards unsecured. Inspector Aldis, assigned by the county transport board, is not convinced: she suspects the hazard was deliberately engineered, and that the chronology of events in the depot that evening has been deliberately obscured. Your task is to reconstruct the exact sequence of events between the end of the afternoon maintenance shift and the moment the tram lurched into the open pit.
