The Frayed Painter's Tin
≈ 4 min
The Autumn Regatta closed at dusk, and by the time the boathouse emptied the club's brass Commodore's Bell — mounted on the wall since 1948 and rung to start every race — had a deep crack running through it, the kind that leaves it clanging flat and useless. Tucked beside the bell, someone had left a bottle of etching acid and a rag bearing the initials 'R.T.', pointing squarely at rigger Rosa Terrell. The committee wants the culprit named before the trophy dinner.
