Coronado Bench Winery unveiled its harvest showpiece today: the 'Founders' Cuvée', a barrel blend entered under a single winemaker's name for the county Cellar Guild's Winemaker of the Year plaque, awarded this afternoon. Just before the ceremony, cellar manager Dolores Ruiz produced the original blending worksheet and challenged the credited name — the cuvée's signature proportions, she says, are not the work of the person about to accept the ribbon. With four people having worked the crush pad this week, the Guild wants to know who actually authored the winning blend before the plaque is engraved.
