The Weight of the Winner's Cup

6 min

The Ternmouth Autumn Regatta ended at 5 PM, and the winning crew's silver — the solid-silver Founders' Cup, awarded since 1922 — sat on the presentation trestle awaiting the 6:30 dinner. By 6:10 the cup on the trestle rang hollow and light: a well-made electroplated copy stood in its place. The real cup left the boathouse sometime between the last race and the dinner call.

Subject

The Founders' Cup
