The Orchid That Fell on Cue
≈ 4 min
At the Verrell Conservatory's Rare Orchid Week, the crown of the display is a suspended moss basket holding the garden's only flowering ghost orchid, hung from the ironwork walkway on a coir rope. At 3:10 PM the rope gave way and the basket dropped onto the tiled path — the orchid crushed, the day's ticketed viewing ruined. Head gardener Aisling Rowe insists the rope was sound this morning, and asks you to decide whether an old rope simply frayed, or someone helped it along.
