Kessock Point Lighthouse holds its annual Open Day today, drawing hundreds of visitors to tour the lamp room, browse the maritime exhibits, and hear the restored 1931 Diaphone foghorn fired at 2:00 PM sharp — a tradition running twenty-two years without a miss. At 1:58 PM, lighthouse keeper Marta Solís climbed to the horn room and found the main air-pressure valve locked open overnight, bleeding the compressor tank dry. The horn produced nothing but a hollow cough. The valve has a locking collar that must be turned by hand; it does not slip on its own.
