Phantom Stroke at Henshaw Cove
≈ 9 min
At 5:45 AM, coach Bridget Farrow arrived at Henshaw University's boathouse to find the shell assigned to the varsity eight — a custom carbon-fibre racing shell nicknamed 'The Meridian', on loan from a private sponsor for Saturday's regional regatta — had its hull freshly drilled with a 12mm inspection hole, rendering it unfit to race. The team's rival entry from Dunmore College is now favoured to take the trophy. Someone with boathouse access and a grudge found their moment in the dark hours before dawn.
Subject
Henshaw Varsity Eight
The university's top rowing squad, who trained for six months toward Saturday's regatta and now cannot race 'The Meridian' without emergency repairs that will almost certainly miss the start time.
The suspects
- Declan Voss — Equipment Manager, Henshaw Rowing Club
- Priya Alderton — Visiting Boat Technician, contracted by the sponsor
- Felix Crane — Assistant Coach, Henshaw Rowing Club
- Saoirse Munn — Varsity Stroke Seat, Henshaw Rowing Club
