At 11:58 PM, two minutes before The Clarion Tribune's Saturday print run locked, editor-in-chief Margot Finch discovered that the lead investigative story — three months of work exposing bid-rigging at City Hall — had been deleted from the shared editorial server. A backup drive that should have held a copy was wiped clean as well. Someone in the newsroom killed the story before it could go to print.
