A Sour Note at Sable Creek
≈ 6 min
Sable Creek Vineyard's prized 2019 Reserve Barrel — a single cask aged seven years and worth $18,000 to a restaurant buyer arriving Monday — was discovered tampered with at close of the harvest-weekend tasting event. Head vintner Margot Ellison found the barrel's wax seal broken and a full litre of cheap cooking wine poured in, ruining the batch. Four people had access to the barrel room during the afternoon.
