When route-setter Priya Joss arrived before dawn to prep the competition wall, she found the gym completely dark and the emergency exit wedged open with a climbing shoe. Tucked beneath the toe of the shoe was a folded card bearing a short message in block capitals, its surface lightly dusted with chalk as though someone had handled it mid-session.
