Master glassblower Odette Crane arrived at the Fenwick & Sons studio before dawn to fire up the furnaces and found a folded slip of paper wedged beneath the iron marver table, half-scorched at one corner. The note is written in block capitals — clearly encoded — and no one admits to leaving it.
