Night operator Bex Calloway arrived at 04:00 to find the main console unlocked and the log-entry terminal still warm — someone had been typing at it in the small hours. Tucked under the keyboard was a folded strip of thermal paper, torn from the printer beside the dish-azimuth controls, bearing a short encoded message in block capitals. Whatever was transmitted that night, it was not in the official schedule.
