The Alpine Cave Verdict
≈ 6 min
At midday, dairy hand Petra Voss descended into the aging cellar to turn the wheels of Kaltenfels Reserve and found a folded slip of paper wedged beneath the oldest wheel on the top shelf, its wax seal already broken. The message is encoded, but whoever left it clearly knew the cave's layout intimately — the shelf chosen is invisible from the entrance until you are standing directly beneath it.
The scene
Cheese cave of an alpine dairy, Kaltenfels Mountain Dairy — the aging cellar carved into the limestone hillside beneath the milking barn
