The Fuel Accounts of Maestro Orsini
≈ 4 min
Maestro Giacomo Orsini operates a glass furnace on Murano under licence from the Venetian Arte dei Vetrai. Each season he must submit to the guild's counting room a sworn account of all fuel wood, potash, and raw sand consumed at his furnace, so that the guild may compare his stated consumption against deliveries recorded by its own agents. The guild's examiner has received Orsini's autumn 1450 accounts and wishes to verify each line against the guild's independent records. You are asked to identify any line that contradicts a guild record, and which record exposes the contradiction.
