The Concession Return of Saltwick Pier

≈ 9 min

Bernard Hogg has submitted his end-of-season concession stock and takings sheet to Saltwick Pier Ltd's head office, covering all stalls and services operated on the pier between Whit Sunday (2 June) and the August Bank Holiday weekend (4 August 1963). Head office reimburses Hogg for verified operating costs against the season's gross receipts, and any overclaimed costs reduce what he must remit. The company's bookkeeper has flagged three entries as potentially irregular and has asked the audit clerk to determine whether any of Hogg's cost or stock claims are unsupported — or outright contradicted — by the pier's own records.
