The Maintenance Accounts of Cavendish Hill Observatory

4 min

Cavendish Hill Observatory Trust reimburses its Instrument Keeper quarterly for all verified maintenance expenditure on the observatory's scientific apparatus. Mr. Phineas Orcutt has submitted his accounts for the quarter ending 30 September 1898, claiming reimbursement for six items of work carried out or contracted during the period. The Trust's finance committee has engaged an auditor to cross-check the schedule against the observatory's own records and those of its suppliers before releasing payment. One line in the accounts names work that the records indicate was never performed in this quarter.
