The Padded Linen Order at Ashbourne College

6 min

At the close of Michaelmas term 1907, Bursar Silas Oughtred submitted a term supply requisition to the College Governors seeking reimbursement for goods purchased on behalf of Ashbourne College's domestic department. The requisition covers bedding, stationery, infirmary sundries, and kitchen provisions for the boarding houses. The Governors have retained an auditor to verify the claimed quantities and prices against the suppliers' own records before authorising payment. All goods are alleged to have been received and distributed by Michaelmas term's end. Examine the six requisition lines and the four supporting records: one line cannot be reconciled with its source document.
